Flowing Into Summer

The last couple of months we have focused on planting and the subsequent blooms that we have come to associate with Spring. We are now entering into May, which is considered by many to be the beginning of Summer. May 1st is the half-way point between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice; and is celebrated in a number of different ways, by many different cultures. Whether you call this special time May Day or Beltane, it is a special time of year celebrated by many who walk the Wheel of the Year.

For some May 1 is the second Spring celebration; for others it is the first Summer celebration. In either case this is a transformational time. Here in Central Texas, we have been blessed with plenty of April Showers that have resulted in an abundance of May Flowers. Seeing the rivulets of rain water as they flowed, stopped and diverted to new paths, was reminiscent of the flow of Spirit or energy as it passes through each of us.

This seems to be an appropriate time to take stock of the condition of the energy conduit, or Hollow Bone, through which we each channel energy. If this conduit becomes blocked or narrowed, it can become difficult for us to move forward. We have had the excitement of the Winter holidays and anticipation of Spring; but now we are faced with the long, trying period of Summer when things move more slowly. If our flow of energy becomes blocked or slowed, it can make it even more difficult to keep on moving forward through the long middle of things that we often experience at this time of year.

At this time of year, we are each encouraged to take a look at our own Flow and take loving care of any blockages we may find. If you do this in preparation for Summer, you may find that you can move more easily through this time of year
