Learning and Practice Creates Stronger Connections

Shamanic Journey Circle

Education: A shamanic life involves being open and looking for opportunities to gain experience. Reading books, watching educational videos, going to lectures, collaborating with a teacher, all can help us learn about different spiritual ideas, teachings, and philosophies. Nature and the environment can also be an incredible teacher if we have an open mind and heart to it. Education gives us a foundation to understand deeper questions about life, purpose, and our existence. Learning from various traditions, texts and teachers expands our views and makes us more open to new perspectives. By studying these concepts, we think more deeply about our own beliefs and values, which leads to personal growth.

Practice: A shamanic life must always involve practicing putting what we have learned into action. Through practices like shamanic journeying, meditation, prayer, and mindfulness, we connect with our inner selves and find a sense of peace. Repetition of breathing and meditation processes help us step into a needed sacred mindset when we need. Not unlike practicing a musical instrument until the melodies come as if on their own. These actions also help us become better people by encouraging qualities like compassion and gratitude. Regular shamanic practice aligns our actions with our spiritual values, making us more genuine and resilient. It also helps us overcome challenges and find meaning in tough times.

The Power of Both: Education and practice work together to help us grow spiritually and see the world in a shamanic way. Education gives us knowledge, while practice turns that knowledge into real experiences. By combining these two, we become more self-aware, develop better character, and feel a deeper connection to the world around us. We can walk in this world with a much more sacred step and purpose. Both education and practice guide us on a journey of understanding, self-improvement, and finding greater purpose in life.

The Shamanic Community of Austin, as our September intention, wants to bring you more resources and opportunities to gain experience and practice.
